A friend of mine went to one of these events and wanted me to join this time he’s going but I would have to share his equipment with him. Is that allowed or no?

Possibly, It depends on what equipment. You will have to ask the club or Match Director who is hosting the match.
If it’s a holstered pistol then probably not. If it’s extra magazines then maybe.
You’ll have to ask.
