[resolved] Android - After updating to 2.1.26+98, the WiFi name is now Unknown

On my Android tablet after updating to Practiscore2 ver 2.1.26+98 today, the WiFi Name display in the bottom right now shows: WiFi: Unknown instead of the WiFi Name (SSID) that the tablet is connected to.

However, sync between my two tablets connected to WiFi works despite the Unknown name vs the actual name.

This change in behavior occurred on two Android tablets that were updated to 2.1.26+98 today.

However, my iOS Phone with the same PractiScore2 app version shows the WiFi name…

Is this behavior possibly a bug in Practiscore2 ver 2.1.26+98 ?

Is there a setting change or permission in the Android OS that needs to change for 2.1.26+98 to display the WiFi name?

I would appreciate any recommendations on what to do to address this.

Pete

Both Android and Apple are going out of their ways to not let apps see the wifi name and other things. I will check if necessary permissions are not being requested.

Thanks for responding…

Upon review the Practicescore2 App has “All Permissions” including:

  • View Wi-Fi Connections
  • View Network Connections
  • Have Full Network Access

The following is also listed:
Allowed is Nearby Devices

Any other specific permissions I should check?

Pete

You are likely looking at permissions that app needs/uses. These permissions are not necessarily being granted to the app. Apparently location access permission that is required to get the wifi name on Android wasn’t being requested correctly. I put a fix for that for the next app update.

Great - thank you…
