Pocket Pro BT stopped working on PS2

I have a Competition Electronics Pro Timer BT that I have used for two matches with PS2 on iOS devices and it worked perfectly. When I tried to use it for a match yesterday, it would not work. I can connect to the timer as usual, but when go into enter scores and open a shooter, the timer icon in the lower right has a slash through it. When I tap the button, it looks like it tries to connect to the timer, but the slash comes right back and it doesn’t read the time. Any ideas why it would suddenly stop working?

@League_Coordinator please confirm the PractiScore 2 app version as well as the iOS version and device model.

PS2 2.1.4+70
iPhone SE 3
iOS 18.3.1

I also have a ticket open with CE to track the issue from their end.

@League_Coordinator I can’t seem to replicate it locally.

Could you try to unlink the timer (swipe left on the timer list screen) and then link it again and see if it resolves issue.

Also make sure you are running the latest firmware update on your PT timer. You can use PT Link app to update it.

Did all of that several times. Put a new battery in the timer. Phone is fully charged devices are side by side.

I have found that I can press the timer icon to poll the timer, and once in a while it does connect after several tries. But when I change shooters, it does not reconnect unless I poll manually. Sometimes it will connect again after a few polls, other times it does not connect at all even after 20 polls.

@League_Coordinator what do you see on the timer settings screen? E.g. when you tap the “gear” icon next to the timer you have selected on the timers screen. You may need to wait a bit for that icon to appear.

Override Timer settings is unchecked
Use stage par time is unchecked and greyed
Par time 0.00 and greyed
Sensitivity 20 and Greyed
Echo 0.11 and greyed
Push mode is unchecked

Just FYI, the timer works correctly with CE’s PT Link app. Also, CE says the timer’s firmware v1.5.1 id the latest.

And the “cryptic” text at the top?

Though, if you got that, the timer is connected.

Admittedly the first-gen timer can be a bit slow in some cases. Make sure to not tap on the timer button too often, eg. while connection progress indicator is circling.

I never get more than one circle on the connection progress indicator. It circles once and stops with the slashed timer.

But following your last comment, I tried waiting a bit, and it looks like if I wait long enough, maybe 5-10 seconds, it will connect. But it never did that previously. I just opened the shooter, the indicator cycled once, and the timer connected immediately. Why would it suddenly start taking much longer to connect? Also, at the match last Monday, even after I finished scoring the shooter’s target, the timer still hadn’t connected.

What do you mean by “Admittedly the first-gen timer can be a bit slow in some cases.”. Are you saying I have a first generation timer? How can I tell? Is there a newer model? What “cases” would cause it to be slow to connect?

@League_Coordinator I made a few fixes for the timer connection in the last app update. It should be in the app stores now. Please give it a try and let me know if you see any improvements.

Updated to 2.1.6+72.

A little better, but still strange. When I open a stage and select a shooter, the timer connects immediately like before. But when I open the next shooters, it’s back to 5-10 seconds. I can close the stage, reopen it, at select the shooter that took 10 seconds, and it connects immediately. So it works correctly with the first shooter selected after opening a stage, but the rest take much longer to connect.

I will look at it again in the next few days…
