Payment integration for event trouble

While the match registration and payment works fine, we have had problems with the event registration and payment integration. The payments do not go through anymore. Practiscore shows the status of the participant as ‘paid’ (used to be ‘paid by stripe’). But in Stripe there is no booking. The registration email shows a field ‘idempotency’ with some code that is not on the registration form.
What to do?

@Andreas_Pfenninger
The first question is always, Are these cloned events?
Are the events under another main event?
How long ago was the event created?
A link to the club and a link to the event with the issue would be welcome.
Regards,

Let me add. If you are not following our cloning recommendations for Events as well as Matches then you can easily have issues. Again, We recommend never cloning or creating a a match more than 60 days in advance & if you are cloning, that the ORIGINAL match you are cloning from is no more than 60 days old.
IF you choose to clone longer or from older matches/events there is a chance you may have scoring or admin/mgt issues. Many of them could not be fixable by PS.

Hello D.J.

thanks for your answer. The club page is
https://practiscore.com/clubs/swissaaa
And the trouble has been encountered with several events, e.g.
https://practiscore.com/events/cma-pistol-intro-course-4/participants/create

The event may have been cloned and I am not sure when exactly it was created. Both events and matches we usually create many months before their date. However, never had a problem with matches, only with events. The particular problem occurred only recently.

The payment integration is a very important functionality, we always do full payment at registration and save a lot of time and trouble since we don’t have to track payments manually. Also, people cannot occupy slots without payment.

Anyway, so if I understand correctly:

  1. no cloning
  2. events AND matches should not be more than 60 days old or created more than 60 days before their date
    Is that correct?

Best regards

Andy

@Andreas_Pfenninger
Yes, that’s all correct.
Without doing a full forensic analysis I can’t be exact with the issue. You have been creating events since 2020. You have many of them grouped together. I would bet that you have clones that are so old I’m surprised they run at all.

You can clone.
We just suggest you follow our guidelines. If not there is a chance if your match/event breaks we may not be able to fix it. Here is info about cloning.

As far a matches created farther out then 30-60 days.
IF you are hosting something like a national or regional championship. Where people need to plan for vacation and travel. We are OK with a match created, say 10 months out. And we will help if it has an issue. But, if must be created from scratch so it has the most up to date web code to help preclude any issues.

Regards,

OK, thanks! So no more cloning then :slight_smile:
Yeah the matches are not like huge matches at the moment. Still we have many shooters that need to plan far in advance, especially our police, firefighters and medical personnel.

But you probably have the club matches on the same weekends of the month so people can plan that way. Without needing matches created 6 months in advance.
