Match registration is set to 75 competitors. I’m seeing several competitors after number 75 (76-78) that show as “Approved” rather than “Waitlisted”, with a couple even showing as paid.
The email notifications I receive for each shooter appear correct, that is all shooters after number 75 are reported as “waitlisted”.

We would need to know what match this is happening to to really help.
Beyond that what is most likely happening is that you are having people pile on when registration opens. Often if two people register withing the same short period the system internally gives them the same reg # and doesn’t count them as individuals. (ie #24 & #24) So you get more approved people in the match than you want. If this happens 3 times then viola, 78 instead of 75.
I have a number of MD’s with popular matches and this issue. What they are doing is undersizing their match on the setup page. (say 70 instead or 75) Then when the rush stops they increase the match size by 5 and release 5 off of the waitlist in the listed order.
They tell me it’s no big deal because they are having to manage the match with people withdrawing and people signing up “just in case” knowing the match fills fast.

Yes, this match did fill to limit within just a few minutes of opening.
I did see one instance of duplicate reg numbers and am familiar with that issue, but the problem of having waitlisted competitors appearing as “approved” & “paid” was new to me and took a bit to suss out.
Talking with other match directors, we’ve decided to manually approve competitors on future matches.
