Do I need to be an IDPA member to compete at IDPA matches?

Do I need to be an IDPA member to compete at IDPA matches? The description for the IDPA match I’m interested in signing up for doesn’t mention IDPA membership as a requirement.

Probably not. You might want to check with the match director listed with the club. But if it were me I’d just sign up and go.

IDPA requires membership after your 3rd match.
They require you to be classified in the division you compete in at least once a year.

Additionally they require membership AND classification to shoot any Tier 2 or above (regardless of the above statement).
Tier2 and above matches will then reset the clock on your annual classification requirement.

My recommendation - go to an IDPA match a couple times and see if you like it before spending the money on a membership. Do the same with USPSA or IPSC or any other sport.

If you’re in the Savannah, GA area, come shoot with us at 17 South.
