Considering a single match in two zones, each with it’s own network that can not readily communicate with each other at this time (think Starlink for one and a local ISP for the other with no line of sight between areas or ability to have VPN/aggregation/bridging).
Obviously we’ll need to get to each zone and let the master connect to that zone’s wifi and then pull from those local tablets. Individual tablets will have score logging enabled over each zone’s network.
Then final syncing will be done on a single network all at once after last shots.
Are there any gotcha’s we should be aware of about when syncing to the master regularly as a backup in this manner or after last shots?
@Jason_Bryngelson if your areas are far apart and you won’t be able to move your Master tablet around you may need to consider having a secondary master that you’d use to sync one of the areas.
Similarly, you may need to think how your registration and match check-in going to work between these areas if they are far apart.
There is a single registration area. The stats guy can travel the 10 minutes to the other zone with the master every hour (per USPSA backup requirements for paperless scoring).
I am just curious about going between networks regularly for the same match.
Also, exporting match data from the main app screen and then importing will offer na option to merge, which is the same as the sync. So you can merge match data from multiple devices, e.g. when you can’t get sync to work.
I’d also recommend doing an export between syncing to devices and either save file locally (can do that with a long tap on the “Export” button) or email to yourself or save to the cloud drive of your choice to have another backup of your data.
